Google Apps No Longer Supporting IE6

Google AppsGreat news for the user experience community and everyone that uses the internet. As of March 1st, 2010 Google Apps will no longer support Internet Explorer 6.0 (IE6) as well as other older browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers. Google Apps will continue to support Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Firefox 3.0 and above, Google Chrome 4.0 and above, and Safari 3.0 and above. (more…)

Not like the early days of design when people explored interactive and learned how to use it, people know how to use technology through interfaces. We expect certain behaviors, functions and responses. A design pattern is a formal way of documenting a solution to a common design problem. Trends have emerged that demonstrate designs that work for different purposes. Over time collections of these observations have been gathered as interaction design patterns. (more…)

ROI on User Experience (UX) Design

I was on a start-up panel and the question asked “how do determine if the user experience design is successful? Many of the answers suggested; does the design elevate the brand? does it improve the user experience? easier for users to complete tasks? etc. These are great things that in the past certainly made the client stakeholders and agency or designers feel good; but does it really tell you if it was a good investment? User experience design is part of the overall solution – like a wheel on a car cannot be successful on its own; what purpose could it have?
